From grid-sampling and crop-scouting services to prescription recommendations and variable-rate application, MFA’s investment in expert personnel and advanced equipment keeps producers on the cutting edge of agricultural technology.
Stewardship is one of MFA’s core values, one that we back up with more than just words—we take action. MFA has two conservation experts on staff who work with growers and landowners on practices that incorporate conservation to achieve agronomic, economic and environmental goals.
Learn More >MFA’s consultants are in the field when you can’t be, keeping you better informed and helping you determine the need and timing of critical crop practices.
Learn More >Lower your cost of production per bushel by putting fertilizer where it’s needed and avoiding over-application in areas that won’t perform.
Learn More >MFA’s precision agronomy team will help you get the most out of your row-crop and forage production. We have knowledgeable staff across MFA territory to serve your needs.
Learn More >Want to improve your nutrient-use efficiency? Look no further than Nutri-Track, the premier precision nutrient-management program. Whether you raise row crops, forages or both, your soil’s nutrient levels are critical to maximize production. Nutri-Track is designed to measure, manage and maintain fertility levels by combining GPS-based soil testing and yield monitoring. Year after year, the Nutri-Track system shows its value to producers through lime savings, improved crops and yields, and reduced waste by over-application.
Need unbiased advice on how to advance your agronomic program? Check out Crop-Trak, which provides you with an advisor to help navigate today’s fast-changing agricultural environment. With the many tasks today’s producers must complete in a short window of time, it is increasingly difficult to keep up with new products and practices. Beyond this, most growers do not have the time to intensively scout each of their fields to determine the need and timing for a certain practice. MFA’s Crop-Trak program will put a scout in your field every 7-10 days, keeping you better informed on what is happening. This frequency allows scouts to identify issues early with the crop for more efficient use of pesticides only when and where they are needed.
MFA precision agriculture customers can access all their data in one place through the MFA Agronomy Dashboard. From harvest and variable planting maps to nutrient management plans, the precision information you need is at your fingertips and as close as your mobile device or desktop computer. The MFA Agronomy Dashboard is a downloadable app for iPhone or iPad. A web-based version is available for desktop use and for non-Apple mobile devices via a web browser like Google Chrome. An Android version of the app is currently under development. Contact your local MFA Precision expert or MFA Affiliate to learn more.
Being able to accurately place fertilizer, herbicide or seed rates is one of the key benefits of precision agriculture, providing a more efficient use of inputs and even reducing costs in many cases. Precision technology allows you to be more accurate and controlled with your inputs during all stages of the cropping cycle to give your crops the best opportunity to thrive.
Improved efficiencies, reductions in input costs, better crop quality and increased yields all lead to more profitability on the farm. These benefits are possible by adopting precision techniques and technologies. With the addition of each precision farming practice and greater accuracies, profits can increase season after season.
Every field is different. Terrain, climate, soil properties, weather and farm management practices contribute to its performance. Even individual areas within each field can have substantial variability causing fluctuations in yields. By integrating precision technologies into your operation, you can address variabilities to boost production.
Ensuring that crop input products applied actually get into the plant and not elsewhere affecting the environment delivers not only a better bottom line for you but also supports better stewardship. A recent study by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers identified five key environmental benefits achieved through precision technology including:
The decision-making process doesn’t just occur at the beginning of a season. Observations about a field can be made throughout the entire growing cycle so you can make adjustments to improve yields. Data collected from precision agriculture technologies can be analyzed to help you make better decisions about future management practices.
