MFA Mourns Loss of Employee

May 17, 2024

It is with profound sadness that MFA Incorporated confirms the loss of one of our employees in a grain engulfment incident at our Hamilton Rail Facility today.

"The sorrow we feel over this loss can’t be expressed by words" said Ernie Verslues, President & CEO for MFA. "This young man was an extraordinary team member who embodied our company values every day. Our hearts go out to his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time. The entire family is in our prayers."

Counseling resources have been brought in to provide support services to employees impacted by this tragedy.

"Our number one priority is the health, safety and well-being of our workforce," Verslues stated. "MFA will be conducting a thorough investigation into this incident. At this time, we have no further details but are working closely with officials as they review the incident. We will not rest until the investigation is concluded and preventative measures can be put into place, if needed."

Out of respect for the family, no additional details are available at this time.
