MFA’s Taylor Nix named to ‘40 Under 40’ list for 2025
On this Women in Agriculture Day, MFA is proud to share that one of our own women, Taylor Nix of MFA’s Heart of Missouri Group, has been named to The Scoop magazine’s “40 Under 40” for being a next-generation leader in retail ag and serving as a trusted adviser to farmers.
In her role as local agronomist and precision specialist, the 24-year-old helps to develop and implement crop protection and plant nutrition plans for producers in the areas served by MFA Agri Services in Boonville, Glasgow and Salisbury, Mo. During the growing season, Taylor is in the field every day, monitoring crop conditions and providing tailored recommendations based on her findings.
Prior to coming to MFA in January 2023, Taylor worked as a weed science undergraduate researcher for the University of Missouri in Columbia, where she completed her degree in agriculture education with a minor in plant sciences.
Taylor was nominated for the “40 Under 40” list by her supervisor, MFA Senior Staff Agronomist Scott Wilbur, who described her as “an excellent agronomist with an eye for detail and quick recall of the information needed to guide growers through today’s challenges.”
The nomination was a surprise to Taylor, who said “it was exciting” so see her name among her peers in the industry.
“It makes me feel like I’m doing what I’m supposed to do and making a difference in my area” she said.
Taylor led MFA’s Crop-Trak team of more than 20 consultants with the highest number of acres after just her second year out of college. Her success has led to the expansion of her role and territory and the creation of an additional position to assist with those acres.
“She has quickly emerged as a leader due to her knowledge, communication skills and overall success among her peers,” Wilburn said. “She is forward-thinking and always willing to try new technologies and techniques.”
He noted that Taylor also makes time to assist in the community, including working with local FFA members and their projects.
“She is one of our go-to representatives for outreach to local schools and universities, serving as an excellent role model for young people considering careers in agriculture,” Wilburn said. “When I speak to high school and college groups, I make it a point to address the misperceptions that agriculture is a male-dominated field or that a farm background is necessary for success. While I have many examples to refute these ideas, Taylor is currently the best example I have of both.”
