Paulsmeyer Farms, Inc. of Chamois, Mo., was presented with 2026 Missouri Agriculture Stewardship Award Nov. 12 at the Governor’s Conference on Agriculture. Given by the Missouri Farmers Care (MFC) Foundation, the award recognizes farmers and ranchers for careful and responsible management of the land, natural resources and animals entrusted to their care.
“Generations of Paulsmeyers have exemplified the best of Missouri agriculture—deep respect for the land, commitment to innovation, and dedication to family and community,” said Ashley McCarty, Missouri Farmers Care Foundation executive director. “Their stewardship honors those who came before them and invests in the generations who follow.”
The farm was established by Arthur Paulsmeyer, Sr., who put down roots in the rich river-bottom soil near Chamois in the 1880s. The operation now encompasses 3,500 acres under the care of Roger and Duane Paulsmeyer; Matt, Alex, Ben and Eli Paulsmeyer; and Marty and Grayson Gerloff. The family grows corn and soybeans and has a herd of commercial cattle.
Today, the operation has evolved to include a produce enterprise known as the “Boys from Chamois,” growing cantaloupe, sweet corn, pumpkins, watermelons and more.
“The 2026 Missouri Agriculture Stewardship Award recognizes the hard work and dedication of our family through the generations,” says Grayson Gerloff, who plans to be an eighth-generation river bottom farmer. “Our farm can serve as an example for others to follow.”
MFC, a coalition of agriculture groups including MFA Incorporated, presents the stewardship award annually with the Missouri Corn Merchandising Council, Missouri Soybean Merchandising Council and Natural Resources Conservation Service along with support from the Missouri Fertilizer Control Board, FCS Financial, Missouri Cattlemen’s Association, Missouri Farm Bureau, Missouri Soil and Water Conservation Program and The Nature Conservancy.
