Part of a broader shift in how the cooperative processes seed, the change allows MFA to better match its seed processing capacity with today’s market and what members will need in the years ahead.
MFA Incorporated has agreed to sell its interest in the Mid-State Seed facility in Marshall, Mo., to Indiana-based Beck’s. The move is part of a broader shift in how the cooperative processes seed. The change allows MFA to better match its seed processing capacity with today’s market and what members will need in the years ahead.
MFA will continue processing MorSoy soybeans and other proprietary lines through well-established and trusted contract seed processors.
All previously committed 2026 MorSoy processing will be completed at Mid-State, and MFA has secured alternative processing arrangements to support MorSoy production beginning with the 2027 growing season. The action will not impact the MorSoy brand or seed availability for customers.
“We appreciate the contributions of the Mid-State team over the years and their role in supporting this operation. After careful evaluation, we determined that our relationships with contract seed processors deliver the best strategy for MFA to provide seed genetics that fit our customers’ needs,” said Jason Weirich, chief operating officer for MFA Incorporated. “Sale of the facility allows us to responsibly transition this operation while maintaining continuity for our customers.”
Weirich added, “MFA Incorporated remains committed to our seed business. This decision strengthens our ability to serve farmers long term.”
The sale of the facility is expected to be completed later this year, subject to customary closing conditions. MFA Incorporated will continue to communicate with stakeholders as the transition progresses.
