MFA Expands Member Grain Access with Acquisition of Four Missouri Elevators

Learn more about MFA Grain Marketing

COLUMBIA, Mo. — April 16, 2026 — MFA Incorporated (MFA), a farmer‑owned agricultural cooperative serving producers across Missouri, today announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire four Missouri grain elevators from ADM, strengthening MFA’s grain origination footprint and expanding market access for its member‑owners.

The transaction includes country grain elevators located in Montgomery City, Center, Novelty and Shelbina, Missouri, representing approximately 6 million bushels of licensed grain storage capacity. The facilities are in significant grain‑producing regions and will become part of MFA’s existing grain network upon closing.

“Grain origination is a core service that MFA provides to our members,” said MFA Chief Operations Officer, Jason Weirich. “By bringing these facilities into our cooperative system, we’re expanding access to delivery points and improving our grain handling logistics. These assets will help maintain competitive markets for the grain our members grow and deliver growers the benefits available by marketing through a cooperative.”

Weirich added that MFA intends to honor existing grain contracts at the acquired facilities, subject to customary reviews and applicable terms and conditions. Operations at each location are expected to continue as normal following closing.

“These facilities are well‑positioned to serve growers in their local trade areas,” Weirich added. “Our goal is to keep grain moving efficiently and provide dependable service our members.

The transaction is expected to close late summer 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and applicable due diligence review.

MFA also emphasized its commitment to the communities where the elevators are located, said Weirich. “We view this as a long‑term investment in local agriculture and the rural communities where they’re located."

The acquisition was approved by MFA’s Board of Directors and aligns with the cooperative’s long‑term strategic plan, which emphasizes disciplined investment in infrastructure that directly supports producers.

“As a cooperative, every capital decision we make is evaluated through the lens of member value,” said MFA President and CEO Bob Huffman. “This investment strengthens our grain system and reinforces MFA’s mission of being owned by farmers, for farmers.”
