MFA’s rural roots bring a deep commitment to the places where our customers and employees live and do business. Through the MFA Incorporated Charitable Foundation, we channel our dedication into support for nonprofit organizations striving to build community and educational opportunities.
The Foundation’s mission is to assist rural communities in MFA Incorporated’s trade area by supporting organizations that are dedicated to education, youth, solving community problems and improving quality of life.
MFA Charitable Foundation Details

- MFA Incorporated Charitable Foundation grants must meet the Foundation's stated mission.
- Grants are awarded in amounts typically not to exceed $2,000.
- Requests must be submitted online via the link and are reviewed by the MFA Incorporated Charitable Foundation board of directors.
- Interpretations and administration of provisions of the program will be determined by the MFA Incorporated Charitable Foundation.
- The MFA Incorporated Charitable Foundation reserves the right to change or withdraw this program without notice.
- Nonprofit organizations may apply for MFA Incorporated Charitable Foundation grants. Generally, donations are restricted to organizations that have been granted tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
- Accredited public or private colleges, universities, and community colleges are eligible as well as elementary and secondary schools.
- Grants are limited to one per organization per year.
Qualifying recipients include:
- Organizations actively addressing and solving community problems and improving quality of life.
- Programs designed to build knowledge and leadership skills for rural youth Charitable organizations that have been granted tax-exempt status.
Funds will not be awarded for:
- Lobbying, political and religious organizations
- National organizations (local chapters of some organizations may be eligible)
- Veteran, fraternal and labor organizations
- Fund-raising events, dinners or benefits
- Operating expenses
- Individuals
- Advertising
- Scholarships
- Sports sponsorships
In an effort to distribute fire grants efficiently and impartially, the MFA Charitable Foundation partners with the University of Missouri Fire and Rescue Training Institute. Through this partnership, we review and award grants based on input from multiple parties, including MU FRTI, the Firefighters Association of Missouri Board of Directors, the State Fire Marshal and the Missouri Division of Fire Safety. The MFA Foundation
MFA’s commitment extends beyond today’s farm—we want to nurture agriculture’s future. That’s why we are proud to be a part of the MFA Foundation, a longstanding organization focused on empowering rural youth to achieve their educational goals.
Thanks to collaboration among MFA Incorporated, MFA Oil Company and local affiliates of both organizations, the MFA Foundation has been awarding scholarships for more than half a century. The numbers tell the story: more than 15,500 scholarships granted, totaling an impressive $18.1 million in educational opportunities—and counting.
Who’s eligible? High school seniors who are children or grandchildren of member-level customers of MFA Agri Services, MFA Oil Company propane plants, bulk plants, and other MFA agencies. The path to these scholarships starts at www.mfafoundation.com.
College scholarships are the cornerstone of the MFA Foundation, but it goes further. The foundation invests in diverse projects that align with its core mission: providing educational avenues for youth.
The MFA Foundation extends direct, unrestricted gifts to private and public colleges, fostering educational growth.
The foundation also supports transformative programs like the Missouri 4-H Foundation, Missouri FFA Association, and the Missouri Young Farmers Association, and it has built strong ties with the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources. The MFA Foundation spearheads special scholarship initiatives and significant contributions, reinforcing our commitment to shaping tomorrow’s leaders.
